Description

BHP Trades Readiness Program provides women with the knowledge, safety certificates, hands-on skills and best practices for working in construction, that are required to start a successful career in the mining industry. Introductory hands-on skills will provide students with the foundational skills needed in the industry. Training will include introductory skill building for the following:

  • basic tools
  • electrical
  • heavy-duty equipment technician
  • instrumentation
  • industrial mechanic (millwright)

BHP is sponsoring a minimum wage to support living expenses during training.

Courses and Skills

  • Basic safety certifications and first aid training 
  • Hands-on skills training in workshops for various trades 
  • Workplace culture and financial literacy 
  • Interview & resume workshops to support employment 
  • Ongoing mentorship and support through alumni advisors 

Admission Requirements

What you need to apply:  

  • Must be a resident of Saskatchewan 
  • A class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Applicants will also need to complete a variety of steps as part of their application. 

Program Cost

  • Tuition for this program is funded by BHP
  • Students may incur travel costs depending on the distance travelled to the training location 
  • BHP will be sponsoring a minimum wage to support living expenses during the program 

Employment Opportunities

Upon completion, graduates will be interviewed with WBF Employment Partners for potential employment.
